DEFINITION GLAUCOMA

- Opthalmic disease

- Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that lead to damage to the optic nerve

CAUSES

- Dietary

- Ethnicity and gender

- Genetics

TYPES OF GLAUCOMA

- Open angle (chronic) glaucoma

- Angle closure (acute) glaucoma

- Congenital glaucoma

- Secondary glaucoma

SIGN AND SIMPTOM

- Eyes hard as tennis ball

- Fill Of Vision (FOV) limited / tunnel vision

- Cornea hazy

- Throbbing

- Blurring of vision

- Haloes

- Photophobia

- Nausea & vomit

TREATMENT

- Eye vision

- Tonometry / Slit lamp

- IV Mannitol if IOP increase

- Oral Glycerol [ to reduce IOP ]

- Tab Diamox [ Diuretic]

- Timolol / Timoptol [ if IOP increase ]

- Gutt. Pylocarpin [ to contsrict the pupil ]

- Surgery --> 1) Iridectomy

                     2) Trabecculectomy
